Your galaxies are now reaching the limits of known space. You are meeting your rivals and must fight with all your might for fertile planets. The time has come to expand your borders. Modernize your ships with the latest technology and advance beyond the depths of space into the truly unknown universe.

One of the main new features is pilots. As an extra action, players can hire pilots by activating certain die symbols. This allows regular ships to be replaced with advanced ships. Pilots possess unique abilities that will be useful during the game.

Another innovation is the exploration mechanic in the far reaches of space. By moving a ship, players can place it on the new exploration board to investigate. Ships can find valuable discoveries or suffer significant losses. Players must decide how much they want to risk by exploring, because without risk, there is no reward!

As in the base game, the game ends when a player reaches 21 victory points. In addition to points earned for planets and empire levels, players score points for hired pilots, discovered dwarf planets, and exploration badges, which award points based on a majority criterion.

The games in the Pequeños Grandes collection stand out for including a large number of components in a small, inexpensive box. Each title has a unique theme with specific mechanics. In the case of Deep Space, the box contains: 30 pilot cards, 20 wooden advanced ship pawns, 30 exploration cards, 7 boards, 12 planet cards, 8 mission cards, and 5 scoring tokens.
